(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Friday launched the Tree Planting Festival at the K9-Da Chong relic site in Ba Vi district, Hanoi, in response to President Ho Chi Minh's initiative 64 years ago to plant trees all over Vietnam.

The same day, the Tree Planting Festival was launched in Hung Yen province with the participation of Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Vo Van Thuong, Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Mass Mobilization Bui Thi Minh Hoai, and Secretary of Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Huu Nghia.
Mr. Thuong said that this meaningful activity has contributed to socio-economic development, improved people's living standards, prevented natural disasters, and improved the environment.
In Hoa Binh province, the Youth Union and the provincial People's Committee on Saturday hosted an event to plant trees in spring 2023. Over 30,000 trees were planted in Thach Yen commune, Cao Phong district after the launch ceremony.
Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung participated in planting Bodhi tree at upper Dinh Cong communal house in Dinh Cong ward.
The Quang Ngai provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with the People's Committee of Son Tinh district to launch the tree planting festival 2023. Local leaders called on individuals and organizations to join a fund raising campaign to achieve the goal of planting 2 million scattered trees and 3 million trees for protective forest.
