(VOVWORLD) - US president Donald Trump will nominate former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman as the new US ambassador to Russia, according to a White House’s spokeperson on Tuesday.

If approved, Huntsman will head to Moscow as the US Congress and a special counsel investigate Russia's role in the 2016 presidential election and allegations that Trump's campaign improperly collided with Moscow.
