(VOVWORLD) - More than 37,000 people have bene killed after an earthquake rocked Turkey and Syria, according to officials. The Turkish Confederation of Business estimated the earthquake damage could surpass 84 billion USD.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has agreed to allow UN aid deliveries to opposition-held northwest Syria through two border crossings from Turkey for three months, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said Monday.
Emergency rescue operations are under way in Turkey. More than 32,000 rescue workers are actively digging through the rubble in search of survivors. The search and rescue operation involves 8,300 international rescue workers.
Miraculously survivors have been pulled out of the rubble eight days after the earthquake. CNN Turk reported that a 40-year-old woman in the southern province of Gaziantep was brought out safely by rescuers after being trapped more than 170 hours.
A rescue team in Kahramanmaras city managed to contact three people, believed to be a grandmother, mother, and 30-day-old baby under the rubble. Rescue workers are trying to dig a tunnel to reach and rescue the victims.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Turkey on Monday welcomed 76 Vietnamese officers and soldiers to participate in the rescue operation and contacted local security agencies to take measures to ensure their safety.
The Embassy said there has been no report of Vietnamese citizens dead or injured in the earthquake. The Vietnamese Embassy in Turkey will continue to provide financial support and clothing to Vietnamese families affected by the earthquake.
Meanwhile, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security's rescue team in Adiyaman City continues to coordinate with China, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan rescuers.
