Two Koreas set dates for upcoming talks
(VOVWORLD) -The two Koreas have decided to continue talks on North Korea's participation in the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics set to open next month in the South.
According to a statement released at the end of Monday’s talks, both sides agreed that a 140-member North Korean art troupe will perform at the Games. At Wednesday’s meeting, the two sides will discuss forming a joint women's hockey team and the cost for the North delegation’s stay. South Korea expects 400 to 500 people from the North to join the Games. North Korean officials are on their way to Switzerland for talks with the International Olympic Committee on the upcoming Games.
The Central Korean News Agency (KCNA) said the the North’s proposal of detente with Seoul has gotten a positive response from people at home and abroad. The proposal reflects Pyongyang's firm desire to prevent a war on the peninsula and defend peace under the condition that a powerful war deterrent has been provided to frustrate and contain any nuclear threat from the US, said the KCNA.
