(VOVWORLD) - UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced a large support package for the reconstruction of the Ukraine on the first day of a conference in London.

Sunak said that the UK will guarantee 3 billion USD of World Bank loans to Ukraine over three years to bolster its economic stability. He also announced an extra 300 million USD (240 million BGP) in development aid for humanitarian projects.
World Bank President Ajay Banga said the loans will help bolster Ukraine’s immediate needs for repairing damage caused by the conflict.
It is also expected that at the conference, the United Nations will develop a new support package for Ukraine. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said he will introduce a new support package for Ukraine on Wednesday to reaffirm Washington’s support for Kiev.
Ukraine said it will need 40 billion USD for the first phase of its green plan to rebuild its economy, including developing a zero-carbon steel industry.
