(VOVworld)- Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has met with 3 opposition leaders following a violent conflict between government forces and protestors.

Prior to the meeting, President Yanukovych urged protestors not to follow “political extremists” and offered his condolences to the families of the victims. Yanokovich said it is not too late for a dialogue and the crisis must be resolved through peaceful measures. The Ukrainian President also opened an investigation of the two people killed Wednesday. President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso urged an end to the crisis in Kiev and warned the executive body of the European Union (EU) to consider sanctions against the Ukrainian government.
