Ukraine ready to accept 30-day ceasefire proposal

(VOVWORLD) - Following Ukraine-US talks in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday, both sides issued a joint statement confirming Ukraine’s readiness to accept a 30-day ceasefire proposal put forward by the United States.

According to the statement published on the official website of the Ukrainian presidency, the ceasefire could be extended by mutual agreement, provided that Russia also accepts and implements it simultaneously.

The negotiations also resulted in an agreement to appoint negotiating teams and initiate discussions aimed at achieving a sustainable peace settlement. The US pledged to present these proposals to Russian representatives. Additionally, the Ukrainian delegation emphasized that European partners must be involved in the peace process.

Andriy Yermak, head of the Ukrainian President's Office and leader of Ukraine’s negotiating delegation, said after the meeting that the US would lift the suspension of intelligence sharing and resume military aid to Ukraine.

According to the joint statement, both presidents also agreed to sign a comprehensive agreement on the exploitation of Ukraine’s key mineral resources, aiming to strengthen the country’s economy and ensure long-term security and prosperity.
