(VOVWORLD) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the current conflict can only be resolved through direct talks between him and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In an exclusive interview by German newspaper Bild, President Zelensky said that in every negotiation, his goal is to end conflict with Russia. Compromises can be made, said Zelensky, adding that the other side must also be willing to make compromises.
He said it is the only way to get out of this situation, although they can’t talk about the details yet. There has been no meeting between Ukrainian President Zelensky and his Russian counterpart since Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24.
