(VOVworld) – The UN Security Council on Monday called for an immediate unconditional humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza which will allow emergency aid to civilians. In an extraordinary session, all 15 council members backed a statement calling on all parties involved to accept and fully implement the ceasefire for humanitarian purpose during and after Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Those concerned were asked to engage in efforts to achieve a durable and fully respected ceasefire. The statement stressed the need to respect and protect civil and humanitarian facilities.
