UN Security Council including 15 member countries has passed a resolution on widening sanctions against North Korea for the satellite launch last December. UN Security Council’s resolution was passed after many weeks of negotiations between the US and China. The US proposed tough measures against Pyongyang but China disagreed. Early this week, China said that the UN Security Council needs to adopt a resolution on North Korea with caution, describing it as the best solution to avoid an escalating crisis. Russia said that North Korea’s satellite launch has violated a UN Security Council resolution and needs to be responded to.
