The UNESCO Science Report “towards 2030” presented at the 38th UNESCO General Conference praised Cuba for sending doctors and nurses to Ebola epidemic centers as an expression of solidarity with the African continent.
Cuban health professionals accomplished an honorable mission on that continent, saving more than 400 lives and helping mortality rates not to exceed 24.4 percent. The report also noted that Cuba was the only Latin American country that devotes more than one percent of its gross domestic product to higher education, at 4.47 percent.
