The two leaders acknowledged that intelligence and military force alone is not going to solve this problem. They underlined that it’s necessary to keep working together on strategies to counter violent extremism that recruits and mobilizes people, especially young people, to engage in terrorism. The US president called for increased cooperation between technology companies and other countries to detect terrorist plots and not to violate people’s privacy. For his part, David Cameron committed to maintaining the alliance with the US, saying that the two agreed to increase their cooperation to wipe out the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
