(VOVworld) – Daniel Russel, the Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific affairs, said on Tuesday that the US is concerned about the recent tension between Japan and the Republic of Korea.

Russel stressed that strategic cooperation among the 3 countries plays an important role in the future security of Northeast Asia. Russel said Japan and Korea need to cooperate to ease tension in the region. He added that the US will continue to work closely with the two partners to take any steps necessary to deal with their historical differences and mend bilateral ties.
