(VOVworld) – An announcement Thursday by the US State Department said Vietnam’s participation in the Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI) shows its strong commitment to countering the spread of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) in the interest of global security and trade safety, as well as peace in the Asia-Pacific region. The US expects further co-operation with Vietnam to fulfil the goals of the Proliferation Security Initiative and the PSI Statement of Interdiction Principles. The Proliferation Security Initiative was launched in Poland’s Krakow City in 2003.
