(VOV) - At Thursday's reception for visiting US Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus in Danang, the City People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho briefed his guest on the local socio-economic situation and the city’s desire to attract foreign investment into the areas of high-tech, education and health care.

To date, US investment into the city has been modest, Tho said, adding that it primarily consisted of a dioxin contamination clean-up project at the Danang International Airport and several humanitarian and social welfare projects. He thanked his guest for the US donation of 100 pieces of equipment to the Danang Natural Disaster Prevention Centre to help minimize damage caused by natural disasters. US Secretary Mabus said it was great to be back in Vietnam, noting that this is the third time he has visited the country and that it was his first visit to Danang. As part of his visit, Mabus visited the guided-missile destroyer, USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62) and the littoral combat ship USS Fort Worth (LCS 3), which had previously docked on April 6th at Tien Sa Port.
