President Trump told a news conference in the White House that there is a possibility that the US will extend the date, if both sides are close to a deal or the deal is going in the right direction. But he added that the negotiations are “very complicated.”
China-US high-level trade talks concluded in Beijing on Friday without a breakthrough or a statement. However, both countries said negotiations achieved certain progress. US tariffs on 200 billion USD worth of Chinese imports are scheduled to rise to 25 percent from the current 10 percent rate if no deal is reached by March 1. The two countries are preparing to resume trade talks in Washington next week.
