US Senator Bob Corker, a ranking member of the US Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee, told reporters in Hanoi on Tuesday on the first leg of his Asia tour that on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Vietnam-US normalization of relations next year, the two nations should resolve a number of issues, including the TPP, in a constructive manner. Corker said he believes the TPP agreement will be finalized in the next 12-18 months.
Corker also revealed that the US Congress has passed the civil nuclear deal with Vietnam known as Agreement 123, which will take effect in the next few days, bringing Vietnam-US cooperation to a new height.
