At the headquarters of the ASEAN Secretariat in Indonesia on Sunday, the leaders discussed international, regional, and bi-lateral issues. Mr Minh expressed his wish for continued US-ASEAN co-operation. Mr Kerry said the US supports ASEAN community’s integration and building process and ASEAN’s efforts to maintain peace, security, and stability in South East Asia and Asia-Pacific. He said the US believes that sovereignty disputes should be resolved by talks in full conformity with international law, without any threat of violence.
During his visit to Indonesia, Mr Kerry called upon ASEAN countries to be active in fighting climate change, which he called “the world’s most fearsome weapon of mass destruction”.
