US: THAAD is in operation
(VOVWORLD) - The Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system (THAAD) near Kodiak, Alaska, has succesfully intercepted a ballistic missile in a test, according to the US Missile Defense Agency on Tuesday.
The successful test bolsters the US defense against a growing nuclear treat and enhances its strategic deterence, the agency said.

The US says the THAAD systems installed in South Korea are for the protection of more than 10 million Korean citizens and vital facilities like Busan port.
