Jenkins praised Quang Tri for overcoming the consequences of mines and unexploded ordnance, saying she wants to continue closer cooperation with the locality in addressing the legacy of unexploded ordnance. She also praised the role of women in clearing mines in the area.

The US Under Secretary of State visited the bomb disposal site in Trieu Son commune, Trieu Phong district, and the Office of Peace Trees Vietnam/USA and planted trees there and worked with the Quang Tri Mine Action Center.
