(VOVworld) – US Secretary of State John Kerry has said that talks between the US and Russia on military cooperation in the fight against IS in Syria were coming to an end, with a meeting this week where technical teams will discuss details.

Kerry told reporters in Kenya on Monday that the US hopes negotiations will conclude this week, adding that depending on where those discussions go, he would meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Also that day, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov left open the possibility of Russia’s fighter jets operating from an Iranian air base near Hamadan city again to conduct strikes in Syria. Earlier, Iranian authorities said Russia had stopped using the base in Iran for airstrikes.
