Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan holds talks with Uruguayan counterpart
(VOVworld) – Vietnam hopes to develop its friendship and cooperate more with Uruguay. Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan stated this while receiving her Uruguayan counterpart Danilo Astori in Hanoi on Tuesday. Doan expressed her thank to Uruguay for establishing an embassy in Hanoi last year and considering recognizing Vietnam’s market economy. She said that Vietnam and Uruguay should tap their potential and cooperate in agriculture, food processing, new technologies, tourism, and construction. Doan also asked that Vietnamese businesses are facilitated to invest and operate in Uruguay.

Both leaders agreed to increase the exchange of senior level delegations, create a legal framework for greater cooperation, and implement the political consultation mechanism between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs. Both countries will support each other in international organizations and at multilateral forums, particularly on their candidacy for the UN Human Rights Council for the 2014-2016 term.
Later the same day Astori met with President Truong Tan Sang, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and then attended a banquet hosted by Vice President Doan. Tomorrow the Uruguayan leader will tour Ho Chi Minh city and meet with several Vietnamese businesses.
