Vice President Doan praised the French Government’s decision to deploy bilateral cooperation mechanisms which will boost links in economics, culture, health and the environment with Vietnam. She said this shows enhanced political trust and future cooperation prospects. Doan thanked the French Senate for its recent support for Vietnam and its approval of the Vietnam-EU Partnership and Cooperation Agreement ( PCA ), saying that if the French National Assembly considers the early ratification of the PCA, then Vietnam-EU cooperation in general and Vietnamese-French relations in particular will be strengthened. Deroche said France supports the settlement of disputes by peaceful means, in line with international law, stressing that it is necessary to maintain peace and stability in the sea to ensure security, safety, navigation and aviation freedom, and international trade.
At an earlier meeting with Ms. Deroche, Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for Finance and Budget Phung Quoc Hien called on the two sides to increase their exchanges of delegations and legislative experience.
