(VOVWORLD) -The 8th Vietnam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange Program is taking place in Vietnam’s Lao Cai province and China’s Yunnan province until Friday.

The Chinese delegation was welcomed on Thursday at the border demarcation line of Lao Cai International Border Gate with the attendance of the Ministers of Defense of Vietnam and China.
The exchange program in Lao Cai include a saluting ceremony, border marker painting, planting friendship trees, inauguration ceremony of Ban Phiet friendship cultural house, visits to Kim Dong primary school and border stations, and signing of cooperation documents.
Earlier, the Military Medical Department provided medical examination and distributed medicine to people in the border area of Lao Cai province. More than 70 officers, doctors, and military medical staff examined health, provided advice and disease prevention and treatment regimens, and free medicine to 700 locals.
