Participants at a meeting in Hanoi on Tuesday to assess Vietnam’s performance in UN peacekeeping missions reached consensus on the remark.

Delegates said Vietnam’s participation to the UN peacekeeping missions is a major guideline of the Vietnamese State and the People’s Army of Vietnam to realize the policy on multi-lateralization, diversification of external relations and proactively contribute to international security and peace.

Over the past years, the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff have implemented peacekeeping assignments, especially two Vietnamese officers completing their UN missions in South Sudan and Central Africa.

The Vietnam Peacekeeping Center has established a level-2 field hospital while preparations for an official launch of the hospital and a sapper brigade are being made in the first quarter of 2016.
