(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam advocates building an independent and self-reliant economy, said Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Quang Hieu at the World Government Summit (WGS 2023) in Dubai.

Themed "Shaping Future Governments", the WGS 2023 drew more than 10,000 delegates, including 20 heads of state and leaders of global and regional organizations. They discussed a number of issues relating to politics, economy, society, environment, technology, artificial intelligence, and green finance.
Hieu said Vietnam is striving to fulfill its commitment to net "zero" emission by 2050 and accelerating economic transformation based on technology and innovation. He suggested international partners and investment funds invest in Vietnam’s green economy, digital economy, and climate change response.
World Trade Organization’s General Director Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said Vietnam is an important link in the process of restructuring supply chains regionally and globally.
