(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese Minister of Defense General Phan Van Giang has called on countries to uphold the central role of ASEAN and strengthen strategic trust with the spirit of law compliance, mutual respect, equality, and win-win cooperation.

At the 10th ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting Plus (ADMM+) in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Thursday, Mr. Giang wished to closely connect ADMM+ and other cooperation frameworks in the three pillars of the ASEAN Community, create a favorable environment for the full implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of parties in the East Sea (DOC), soon achieve a substantive and effective Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), and contribute to maintaining peace, stability, security, safety, and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea.
