Vietnam chairs first public UNSC meeting
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam chaired a meeting of the UN Security Council on the UN chief’s review of the UN Office in West Africa and Sahel (UNOWAS) on Wednesday.

This was the first public UNSC meeting chaired by Vietnam as rotating President of the Council. Mr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas, UN Secretary General Special representative, head of UNOWAS Office, delivered a report on the organization’s activities during the last 6 months. Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, head of the Vietnamese delegation to the UN, praised UNOWAS operations and initiatives. He asked regional countries and organizations like G5 Sahel to continue anti-terrorism and anti-crime efforts and implement measures to resolve disputes and mitigate climate change effects on the region’s security.
