Participants expressed concern over prolonged violence between Israel and Palestine that has left thousands of people dead.
A majority called on Israel to immediately end settlement activities in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
Speaking on behalf of Vietnam, the head of Vietnam’s Permanent Mission to the UN, Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, called on all parties to exercise restraint, avoid actions that incite violence, and respect international law and UNSC resolutions.
Ambassador Quy urged Israel to immediately stop building illegal settlements and lift travel restrictions in the occupied territory. He said the only solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict is to establish a Palestinian State with pre-1967 borders.
