(VOVWORLD) - A Vietnam-China working group convened its eighth round of talks in Beijing, China, from Monday to Wednesday to discuss the sea area beyond the mouth of the Gulf of Tonkin.

The two sides discussed issues regarding the sea area beyond the mouth of the Gulf of Tonkin, pledging to follow shared common perceptions agreed on by the two countries’ leaders, including an agreement on basic principles guiding the settlement of sea-related issues towards demarcation and development cooperation in the area.
They also discussed controlling maritime disputes, exercising restraint, and taking no unilateral actions that could complicate the situation or expand the disputes.
