(VOVWORLD) -The Vietnam national football team will face Indonesia on Thursday in the first leg of the second round of the Asian 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The Indonesia match is an important one. It will affect the team’s chance of moving on. At a press conference in Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, head coach Philippe Troussier said the Vietnam team are confident and he believes that, with careful preparation, the Vietnam team can create surprises and memorable moments.
Vietnam will play Indonesia away on Thursday night and at home on March 26 for the second qualification round.
Midfielder Nguyen Hoang Duc, who won the 2023 Golden Ball for Men’s Best Player of the Year, said, “The Indonesian fans are interested in this match. The Vietnam national football team is eagerly awaiting the upcoming match with high hopes of winning.”
