(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam recorded 46 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. 44 of the new cases were detected within locked down areas and two were imported cases.

The two imported cases, including a Vietnamese citizen returning from Sweden and an Indian expert, have been quarantined in the southern province of Dong Nai upon their arrival in Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat airport.
So far, Vietnam has recorded 2,071 domestically-transmitted infections and 1,436 imported cases. The number of fatalities remains at 35.
The Health Ministry says more than 25,000 people were vaccinated on Monday, bringing the total number to nearly 900,000.
According to worldometers.info, as of Tuesday the world had reported nearly 160 million COVID-19 infections. 3.3 million people have died. The world’s epicenter is the US, with 33.5 million infections and nearly 600,000 deaths, followed by India and Brazil.
609,000 new cases were reported worldwide in the past 24 hours, more than half of those in India. New infections fell 19% in Europe, 16% in North America, and 1% in Africa.
In the past 24 hours, Nepal recorded more than 9,000 new COVID-19 cases and 153 deaths, bringing its total to 404,000 cases and 3,900 deaths.
