Vietnam contributes initiatives to World Water Forum

(VOVworld) – Representatives of Vietnam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is attending the 6th World Water Forum in Marseille, France. Deputy Minister Nguyen Thai Lai told a VoV correspondent in Paris that the delegation has contributed a number of important initiatives to the meeting 'Vietnam’s priority at this forum is to exchange experience in the management of water resources with foreign partners. For Vietnam, water resource security and cooperative sharing and exploration of water resources are extremely important issue. Vietnam wants to share its own experiences in joint use of the Mekong River'.

The forum is a place for members of the International Network of River Basin Organizations to present initiatives and solutions to current problems and sign an international treaty on management of river and lake basins which is expected to be inked on Friday.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the Vietnamese delegation is scheduled to meet with the French Minister for Cooperation and Development and the European Commissioner for Environment.
