President Phuc thanked Cuba for sharing its COVID-19 vaccine with Vietnam, further evidence of the support Cuba has always given Vietnam since Fidel Castro said “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to shed its blood”.

The two leaders mentioned their pleasure at the close coordination and mutual support their countries have enjoyed within international organizations and multilateral forums, particularly the UN and the Non-Aligned Movement. They also affirmed their support for settling disputes through peaceful means in line with international law.

On the occasion, President Phuc announced a gift of 5,000 tons of rice and medical equipment to Cuba. Some Vietnamese ministries and sectors also sent gifts to Cuba, including 1,000 tons of rice, 100 tons of maize, and more medical equipment.
