(VOVWORLD) - The Government and people of Vietnam want to strengthen their traditional friendship and cooperation with the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, said the new Vietnamese Ambassador to Guyana.

Ambassador Do Ba Khoa, who presented his credentials to President David Granger on Monday, urged the Government of Guyana to recognize Vietnam’s market economy, which he called an important step to boost bilateral cooperation. Khoa proposed that the two nations continue coordinating at international forums and find ways to boost their bilateral partnership.
President Granger suggested the two sides step up cooperation in agricultural technology, management and protection of ecosystems and national parks, and coping with climate change.
