Vietnam helps connect EU and ASEAN: EU chief negotiator
(VOVWORLD) - The EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the Investment Protection Agreement (IPA) between Vietnam and the EU, to be signed on Sunday, will facilitate Vietnam’s role as a key connection point between ASEAN and the world.

Helena König, Chief Negotiator and Deputy Director General for European Trade, made the remarks in an interview granted for the Vietnam News Agency on Friday ahead of her trip to Vietnam to sign the agreements. Ms. Konig said that many European companies are considering Vietnam their potential investment destination as soon as the two agreements take effect. Both sides will soon find numerous beneficial factors for mutual economic development in these two agreements, Ms. Konig added. After signing, the agreement will be submitted to the European Parliament (EP) for approval.
