Vietnam helps riot-affected businesses resume normal operation

(VOVworld) – The Vietnamese government is taking steps to help businesses affected by recent riots in Binh Duong and Dong Nai province return to normal operation.

The Prime Minister ordered the Ministry of Finance to encourage insurance agencies to quickly assess the losses suffered by these firms and expedite compensation.

Tax authorities have been asked to extend deadlines for submission of tax payments and adjust liabilities based on the damages each business incurred. The maximum extension is two years.

Customs agencies have been asked to grant import-export tax exemptions, reductions, and refunds for damaged goods. Affected businesses will see their luxury taxes reduced as much as 30% in 2014.

Local authorities will offer affected businesses exemptions or reductions of land rents.
