(VOVworld) – The 9 most outstanding scientific and technological events of 2014 were honored at a ceremony Tuesday in Hanoi to acknowledge scientists’ contributions to Vietnam’s socioeconomic development.

Vietnam’s launch and export of drilling rig HRD, its successful production of Rotavin vaccines to prevent diarrhea, and the commercialization of chip SG8V1 designed by the Integrated Circuit Design Research and Education Center, are among the most noteworthy. Phan Xuan Dung, head of the National Assembly Committee of Science, Technology, and Environment hailed the organization of the event, which is of great importance to socioeconomic development and national defense. He said: "Much importance has been given to scientific and technological development as part of efforts to boost socio-economic development. The 2013 Constitution asserts that scientific and technology development is among the top national policies. The 2013 revised Law on Science and Technology says that any national decisions should be made with due attention given to scientific and technological development."
