Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh paid a courtesy visit to Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Friday afternoon at the Bogor Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Indonesia. Both leaders pledged to deal with all arising problems in the spirit of a Strategic Partnership and mutual benefit.

At the meeting, President Widodo said Indonesia attaches great importance to and wishes to develop the traditional friendship and strategic partnership with Vietnam to new heights. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated Indonesia's efforts in the fight against COVID-19 and expressed his belief that Indonesia will overcome its difficulties, control the disease, and recover towards the realization of Indonesia Vision 2045.

The two leaders agreed on the need to strengthen exchanges at high-level and all channels with flexible forms; effectively implement bilateral cooperation mechanisms and agreements, especially the Action Program for 2019-2023 to implement the Strategic Partnership and the Bilateral Defense Cooperation Vision for 2018-2022.

Both affirmed that they will continue to cooperate closely and effectively at regional and international forums, especially in ASEAN, APEC and UN; work with other ASEAN countries to constantly strengthen solidarity and promote ASEAN's centrality in regional strategic issues, including the East Sea; closely coordinate in implementing the DOC and negotiate to soon achieve an effective, efficient COC in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
