(VOVworld) - As reported earlier, an official welcoming ceremony for President Truong Tan Sang, who is currently on a state visit to Kazakhstan at the invitation of President Nursultan Nazarbayev, took place at the Presidential Palace. During talks after that, President Sang said he was pleased over Kazakhstan’s socio-economic achievements and its enhanced role and position regionally and internationally.  President Nazarbayev also spoke highly of Vietnam’s major successes during its renewal process and its more important role worldwide: “Kazakhstan considers Vietnam as its strategic partner in Asia. My visit to Vietnam last year and the Vietnamese President’s ongoing visit to Kazakhstan will create the right atmosphere for both sides to step up cooperation. The agreements which were already signed and will be signed will help bring the two countries closer and deepen bilateral ties

At their talks, both agreed to conduct regular exchanges of visits at all levels, organize cultural days in each other country and boost economic and trade ties. Both sides also stressed the need to fully implement the Vietnam-Kazakhstan joint plan of action for 2011-2013 period and improve the operation of the intergovernmental committee for economic, trade, scientific and technological cooperation.

Speaking to reporters after the talks, President Truong Tan Sang reiterated the significance of the traditional friendship and cooperation that lies between both countries. "Vietnam’s leaders and its people are determined to bring the Vietnam-Kazakhstan relationship to a new height, strengthen mutual trust and create a momentum for further cooperation in every fields, especially in economics, trade and investment. I believe that the more cooperation between both countries will contribute to the success of the two countries’ socio economic development strategies", said President Sang.

President Nursultan Nazarbayev said that Kazakhstan also hopes for Vietnam’s support in international cooperation.

On the occasion, the two Presidents witnessed the signing of agreements in plant quarantine regulations, air transport and cooperation between both banking sectors.

They released a joint statement highlighting the importance of their discussions on bilateral cooperation, regional and international issues. They praised the outcomes of bilateral cooperation over the past 20 years and stated their determination to bring bilateral ties to a new height. They stressed on the importance of the implementation of the Joint Action Program for the 2011-2013 period. Both sides praised their bilateral coordination within the framework of regional and international organizations and forums including the UN, and pledged to continue supporting each other. Kazakhstan praised Vietnam’s contribution to ASEAN and hopes that Vietnam will continue to help it to join the ASEAN Regional Forum. Vietnam reiterated its readiness to serve as a bridge linking Kazakhstan and ASEAN.
