Vietnam naval ship departs for missions in Singapore, Philippines

(VOVWORLD) -Ship 015-Tran Hung Dao of Brigade 162 on Friday left Cam Ranh Military Port for foreign defense missions in Singapore and the Philippines. On board the ship are a Vietnam People's Navy delegation led by Colonel Nguyen Van Ngan, Deputy Chief of the Naval Region 4.

In the course of more than 3,000 nautical miles, the ship’s first destination is Singapore’s Changi, where the delegation will participate in activities within the framework of the ASEAN-India maritime exercises, Workshop on humanitarian assistance and disaster reduction (HADR), professional exchange, and International Maritime and Defense Exhibition (IMDEX) 2023.

Next, on the journey from Singapore to the Philippines’ Lubang, there will be ASEAN-India maritime exercises: taking aerial pictures of formations, tracking targets, and sea logistics.

In the Philippines, the Vietnamese naval ship and the delegation will participate in the ASEAN naval parade; the 2nd ASEAN Multilateral Naval Exercise (AMNEX-2); cultural and artistic exchange; and sports games.

The naval mission is part of Vietnam’s international integration and defense diplomacy to improve the ability to coordinate and synergistically respond to shared maritime security challenges and further strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the armies of Vietnam and other ASEAN countries and countries outside the region.
