(VOVworld) - Vietnam contributed to the discussion of issues raised this week at the 22nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Beijing, Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son told reporters Tuesday on President Truong Tan Sang’s return to Hanoi.
Vietnam proposed linking economic reform, growth, and connectivity with sustainable development. Millennium development goals and the post-2015 development agenda should include responses to global challenges like food safety, water resource security, natural disaster mitigation, and search and rescue operation. Vietnam highlighted mutually beneficial cooperation and asked for the consideration of different developmental levels and support for capacity building, especially in economics and trade. APEC members agreed with Vietnam’s suggestion on boosting education, training, and fisheries cooperation, public-private partnership, and science-technology application among APEC economies and promoting sub-regional links. Participants applauded outcomes of the 6th APEC Human Resources Development Ministerial Meeting that Vietnam hosted in September. Many member economies and businesses pledged their continued support for Vietnam in implementing its priorities in economic reform and global integration.
