The world is undergoing major shifts, requiring ASEAN to adopt new, global, inclusive, and comprehensive approaches to secure long-term benefits, he said. Consensus and solidarity provide ASEAN with the opportunity to rise and make breakthroughs, Mr. Chinh emphasized.

"ASEAN is a bridge for dialogue and cooperation for peace and development in the region. It lies at the heart of numerous regional and global connectivity initiatives. In the new context, ASEAN needs consensus, unity, strategic and sharp thinking, feasible roadmaps, concentrated resources, and bold actions,” said PM Chinh.

The Vietnamese PM proposed three strategic priorities and three breakthrough actions for ASEAN’s development.

The strategic priorities include strategic autonomy, economic resilience, and the preservation of ASEAN’s identity. The breakthrough actions focus on flexible adaptation, mobilizing all available resources for development, and strengthening ASEAN connectivity.

PM Chinh reiterated  Vietnam's commitment to being a proactive, active, and responsible member in building a united, inclusive, and resilient ASEAN Community.

"Together, we will work toward the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 for the benefit of all people in the region. Vietnam, alongside fellow member states, partners, and international friends, will continue writing new and proud chapters in ASEAN’s development journey," he said.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that ASEAN will continue to contribute more proactively and actively to shaping the future of the world alongside the international community.

Among the distinguished attendees at AFF 2025 were President of Timor-Leste José Ramos-Horta, ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn, and Lao Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasit.
