The World Health Organization has chosen "Tobacco – a threat to development” as the theme for World No Tobacco Day 2017, pointing to the threat that the tobacco industry poses to the sustainable development of every country, and the health and economic well-being of its citizens. The WHO encourages countries to include tobacco control in their national response to the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
