At the 104th session of the International Labour Organisation Conference in Geneva, Switzerland, Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs Nguyen Thanh Hoa highlighted the Vietnamese government’s efforts in ensuring social equality along with economic growth, especially in poverty reduction, ensuring social welfare and gender equality, enforcing women’s rights, and providing more vocational training courses in rural areas. She said Vietnam values ties with the ILO, hoping for more support in reforming the labour market, fine-tuning employment and social welfare policies, and fulfilling commitments during its international integration.
During its stay in Geneva, the Vietnamese delegation also attended the Asia-Pacific ministers’ meeting and met with ILO Director-General Guy Ryder, ILO Deputy Director-General Sandra Polaski, and some other ASEAN delegations.
