Minister of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs Pham Thi Hai Chuyen was speaking at a high-level session of the 103rd International Labour Conference hosted by the ILO in Geneva, Switzerland, with the participation of over 4,000 delegates from 185 member countries.
Delivering a report on Wednesday, Chuyen voiced Vietnam’s backing of ILO efforts to protect the legitimate rights and interests of laborers. Vietnam resolutely objects to and called for an immediate termination of violation and provocative acts in Vietnam’s waters in the East Sea. She stated that these acts seriously threaten the safety, working environment and livelihoods of Vietnamese laborers at sea, and run counter to international labor standards on Maritime Labor. The Vietnamese minister called on concerned countries and the international community to support Vietnam’s efforts to resolve the dispute in the East Sea by peaceful measures in line with international law.
