Addressing Monday’s international workshop in Hanoi examining national action plans on women, peace, and security, and making recommendations for Vietnam, Ms. Flowers hailed Vietnam’s active voice in supporting and promoting women's issues, peace, and security at multilateral forums.
Vietnam proposed and promoted the adoption of the first UN Security Council resolution on the role of women, and successfully organized an international conference on enhancing the role of women in promoting peace.
In ASEAN, Vietnam has developed regional frameworks and policies on women's peace and security issues, and participated in the ASEAN women's group on reconciliation.
Ms. Flowers said Vietnam has demonstrated its commitment to women's empowerment and protection and ensuring women’s participation in all areas, and will continue to play an important role at the regional and global level.
