It was the highest number of medals Vietnam has ever achieved since it hosted the Games in 2003. The Vietnamese team initially set a target of 35-40 gold medals.
During the week long Games, Vietnam's 153-member delegation competed in 8 events: athletics, swimming, weightlifting, badminton, table tennis, chess, judo, and archery.
Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo said at the closing ceremony that Indonesia is very proud to host the Games and thanked 1248 athletes for their participation. He said the solidarity among ASEAN countries demonstrated by the athletes will become an immense power for ASEAN and people with disabilities.
