Vietnam, Russia strengthen parliamentary ties

(VOVWORLD) - Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan met with Chairman of Russia’s State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin on the sidelines of the third Meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries’ Parliaments (MSEAP 3) in Antalya, Turkey, on Monday.

The leaders discussed their parliamentary experiences and promised to boost the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Madam Ngan lauded the initiative to establish the MSEAP by the State Duma and the Republic of Korea’s National Assembly and said she believes MSEAP 3 will be a success.

Mr. Volodin said he hopes the Vietnamese National Assembly will support Russia’s proposal to establish a gender-equal Vietnam-Russia inter-parliamentary committee. He said he is scheduled to visit Vietnam this year.
