(VOVworld) - Vietnam's three chess players triumphed in the Zone 3.3 qualifying round of the World Chess Championships 2015 which wrapped up Sunday in Ho Chi Minh City, each securing a berth to compete in the upcoming Chess World Cup 2015. In the final match of the nine-set tournament, Grandmaster Le Quang Liem walked away with a cash prize of 2,000 USD. In the women's event, Pham Le Thao Nguyen maintained her lead position throughout the tournament, winning a 1,000 USD cash prize.
The Zone 3.3 qualifying round of the World Chess Championships 2015 attracted 44 male and 20 female players from South Korea, Mongolia, Thailand, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam.
